My Dora, a 12 year old dachshund, started having ear infection issues. I am one of those guys that tries to figure things out on my own, and have just enough biology education to be dangerous. I tried a round of oral antibiotics and homeopathic ear drops. Everything got better for a while, but then it all came back. I love my dog and so called the vet. I have been to Cumberland in the past, and with good results, but I don't do regular vet visits (I don't do them for me either). Dr. Bowman was fantastic. She spoke to me on the phone and gave me a rough idea if what needed to be done as well as cost. I could tell, even on the phone, that she was concerned for Dora. . They got me right in and helped my Dora with in the hour. Dr. Bowman did not berate me about trying things on my own: on the contrary, she explained why my attempts did not work. I brought my daughter, who also have a great love for animals, and talks about growing up and caring for them (especially her gerbils). Dr. Bowman brought us a few informative books about dogs and cats. This meant a lot to me because my children's education and desires mean a lot to me. My daughter mentioned that being a vet must be great because you get to help animals and make a lot of money. Dr. Bowman said "you don't do this job for the money", and I believe that Dr. Bowman is a vet because of her love for animals alone. She showed great compassion for Dora, wisdom in her treatment, and people skills to boot. Dora is getting better every day! Thank you Cumberland.
